South Strand Internists Opens New Location in Carolina Forest Myrtle Beach, SC

Along with shortening their name to Strand Urgent Care, South Strand Internists & Urgent Care is just one short month away from opening the doors of their new location in Carolina Forest, just off International Drive and adjacent to Lowes Foods.

Staying true to their unique office combo, “Strand Urgent Care in Carolina Forest will provide primary and urgent care, 7 days a week,” says Deana Finley, Office Administrator.

J. Vance Vandergriff, MD will be the lead doctor of this new Strand Urgent Care location accompanied by Alicia Anderson, MSN, FNP. “The new location will start with myself and Ms. Anderson as full time providers,” says Vandergriff, “but long term, we hope to house 5 providers in our Carolina Forest location.”

Along with a roomy waiting area and 9 over-sized patient rooms, Strand Urgent Care of Carolina Forest has partnered with Carolina Orthopaedics Specialists and ATI Physical Therapy to work side by side to better serve their patients.

“We understand that we can’t house every need our patients could have under one roof, but by partnering with other local doctors and physicians like Carolina Orthopaedics, ATI and MUSC, we can provide more than ever before. This includes telemedicine which allows the use of high-definition video chats between patients in the area and doctors at MUSC to conduct follow up appointments,” says Finley.

With this new expansion, the Surfside Beach location of Strand Urgent Care will become the hub of the company where specialty services like stress tests, allergy testing and ultrasounds will be provided by their outside partners. As the need increases though, these additional services could be provided at all 3 locations of Strand Urgent Care—Surfside Beach, Pawley’s Island and Carolina Forest. The new Strand Urgent Care location will provide onsite x-rays and full lab services as their locations currently do.

When asked what he was most excited about for this new location of Strand Urgent Care, Vandergriff said, “Expanding our footprint on the Grand Strand! We will be able to help new patients in the Carolina Forest area who we have never seen, as well as shorten the drive for many of our current patients.” Finley explained further, “Our ultimate goal is to give our patients the best possible care in the shortest amount of time. Utilizing new technology has allowed our office to become much more efficient.”

All of the Strand Urgent Care locations are using and will be using Phreesia, an electronic check-in pad (see right). Phreesia allows patients to fill out all necessary paperwork for a first time appointment, confirm their information at all following appointments, and sign all necessary confidentiality forms once a year as required – all directly on the pad. Patients also have the ability to pay for their visit or any past due balance conveniently and discretely.

Strand Urgent Care is dedicated to providing excellent customer service along with their top-notch medical care. With their secure online Patient Portal, doctors and patients can communicate more easily and openly. Patients have the ability to be more hands on with the care they are receiving including recaps of each visit uploaded to the portal, securely checking labs on the portal and follow-up emails after each visit to the doctor’s office.

Vandergriff says, “I already have patients scheduled each day for the first two weeks we will be open in Carolina Forest. We are lucky to already have a client base going into this new location, but we want to grow! The whole point of this new location is expanding our practice and ultimately, better serving the Grand Strand.”

Strand Urgent Care will be fully open and operational by June 1, 2016. Appointments can be made as early as May 1st though, but some services like x-rays may not be available until June.
