Our Story

The founding partner, Brian K. Adler, MD, FACP, moved to South Carolina in 1984 with his wife to practice medicine with Asbury Williams and Doyne Toone, located on Business 17 in front of Ocean Lakes Campground. Dr. Adler’s dream though was to build his own medical facility providing a professional and comfortable environment for his patients. In 1986, when the site for South Strand Internists was chosen, Glenns Bay Road in Surfside Beach was just a narrow dirt road. Today Glenn’s Bay Road is a busy thoroughfare that still houses the practice headquarters. Known before as South Strand Internists, the practice has become South Strand Internists & Urgent Care and is transitioning to a shorter name, Strand Urgent Care, with an additional location in Myrtle Beach (Carolina Forest).  Both locations are proud to provide compassionate Primary & Urgent Care for the whole family.
